Announce a flat-rate pricing update
When to use it
When you update your price book and need to tell the team (and sometimes customers).
The prompt
Copy this, then replace everything in [brackets].
Write two short messages about our flat-rate price book update.
Effective date: [date]
What changed: [e.g. 6% average increase, new tune-up price, drain cleaning price]
Why: [parts and fuel costs, wages, warranty costs]
Member pricing: [unchanged / discount %]
1) To the team: what changed, why, how to talk about it with customers.
2) To customers (optional, email): honest, short, no apology tour.
Before / after
Before: Techs hear about it from a customer who’s mad about the price.
After (example output):
Team: Starting Nov 1, the price book goes up about 6% on average. Parts are up 11% this year and we gave raises in June. Members still get 15% off. If a customer asks, say: ‘Our costs went up, and this keeps us able to answer the phone at 9 PM on a Sunday.’
Tips
- Roll pricing into the FSM before the announcement goes out.
- Use real numbers from your own reports. Never let the AI invent them.
- Keep it in your voice. Edit the draft until it sounds like you talking to your crew.
- Review every draft before you send it. You’re accountable for what goes out.
