When to use it
Before interviewing a tech, CSR or office hire.
The prompt
Copy this, then replace everything in [brackets].
Write interview questions for a [role] at a home service company.
What matters most: [e.g. customer communication, troubleshooting, showing up]
Red flags we've had before: [list]
Format: [phone screen / in-person / ride-along]
Give 8 questions: mix of experience, real scenarios from the field, and attitude. Add what a good answer sounds like for each. Keep all questions legal (nothing about age, family, religion, health, etc.).
Before / after
Before: Winging it and hiring the guy who talked best.
After (example output):
Scenario: ‘You’re at a house at 6 PM. The fix is a $1,900 repair on a 17-year-old system and the homeowner asks what you’d do. Walk me through it.’ Good answer: gives options, explains honestly, doesn’t push. Red flag: blames the customer or says ‘always replace.’
Tips
- Ask the same questions to every candidate so you can compare.
- Use real numbers from your own reports. Never let the AI invent them.
- Keep it in your voice. Edit the draft until it sounds like you talking to your crew.
- Review every draft before you send it. You’re accountable for what goes out.
